Florida Beaches at the Florida Keys.

Beach Overview of Floridas Beaches at the Florida Keys from the east to the west:

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park:
The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is located at the city of Key Largo. The State Park is situated next to the US Route 1. At the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park it is possible to make a trip with a glassbottom boat, hike on a small trail through the mangroves, spend a day at the beach at the two beaches at the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park or visiting the remains of a spanish shipwreck. The entrance fee is $4,5.- for one person; $9.- for two persons; $9,5.- for three persons (as at: April 2010).

 

 

 

Cannon Beach - At the stony beach of the Cannon Beach there are old cannons. At the Cannon Beach it is possible to snorkel or to go swimming. Showers and restrooms are provided at the Cannon Beach at the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fur Beach Area - At the Fur Beach Area the sand at the beach ís coarsed. Showers and restrooms are provided at this beach. A wooden trail through the mangroves starts at the side of the parking lot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anne’s Beach Park:
Anne’s Beach Park is located at the Milemarker 73 (MM 73). A wooden trail leads to a couple of small beaches at the Gulf of Mexico. Small parking lots are situated at the western end and the eastern end of the Anne’s Beach Park. restrooms are provided at the eastern parking lot. No parking fee is charged at the Anne’s Beach park (as at: April 2010). Only a few parking spaces are available at the Anne’s Beach Park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Long Key State Park:
The water at the Long Key State Park is not very deep. Restrooms and showers are provided at this beach. The entrance fee is $4,5.- for one person; $9.- for two persons; $9,5.- for three persons. The entrance fee at the Fort Zachary Taylor State Park must be payed in cash (as at: April 2010).

 

 

 

Golden Orb Nature Trail - The Golden Orb Trail leads through the interesting vegetation at the eastern part of the Long Key State Park. This small beach can’t be used for a day at the beach. Lots of washed up parts of plants are lying at this sandy beach .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trail at the primitive campground - A short wooden trail leads from the parking lot to the primitive campground at the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico. Small sandy beaches are located along the coastline. Lots of washed up parts of plants are lying at this sandy beaches.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kajak Boatramp - The sandy beach at the Kajak Boatramp is rather small. Lots of washed up parts of plants are lying at this sandy beaches. Because of the Kajak Boatramp, this is no beach for swimming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Veterans Memorial Park:
The beach at the Veterans Memorial Park is a leveled sandy beach. Restrooms are provided at this beach. No parking fee is charged at the Veterans Memorial Park (as at: April 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bahia Honda State Park:
The Bahia Honda State Park is a perfect place for a break on the drive to Key West. The water of the Gulf of Mexico is calm and perfect for swimming. The Bahia Honda State Park is perfect for a day at the beach, for swimming, sunbathing or hiking on the small trails. A campground is also provided. Sandspur Beach - The Sandspur Beach is by far the best beach at the Bahia Honda State Park and one of the best beaches in Florida. The beach consists of very fine white sand. Washed up parts of plants are lying at the sand of the beautiful leveled beach. Showers and restrooms are provided at the Sandspur Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Logger Head Beach - At the eastern end of the Logger Head Beach, there is a kajak rental. The western part of the Logger Head Beach is better for swimming. Showers and restrooms are provided at the Logger Head Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Calusa Beach - At the sandy beach of the Calusa Beach, there are a cafe, showers and restrooms.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Smathers Beach (Key West):
The beach at the Smathers Beach in Key West is one of the best beaches in Key West and one of the best beaches in Florida. The filled up white leveled beach is a popular and scenic beach. Some areas of the beach have a very fine sand. At the western end of the Smathers Beach, there are showers and restrooms. A parking fee is charged at the parking spaces, that are situated at the roadside of the Smathers Beach. Higgs Beach (Key West):
No parking fee is charged at the Higgs Beach. the beach at the Higgs Beach used to consist of coarsed parts of corals. Thanks to a hurricane, the beach now consists of fine sand. No parking fee is charged at the Higgs Beach.

 

 

 

Higgs Beach (östlich vom White Street Pier)- East of the White Street Pier, there are no restrooms and no showers available at the Higgs Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

Higgs Beach (westlich vom White Street Pier)- West of the White Street Pier, there’s a fine sandy beach with lots of small stones. There’s also a small memorial at this part of the beach. Restrooms are provided at the Higgs Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

South Beach:
South Beach is a rather small leveled sandy beach. South Beach at Key West is located a little bit east of the southernmost point of the continental USA. No showers and no restrooms are provided at this beach. The parking fee at the parking meter is one Quarter (25 Cent) for 10 minutes (as at: April 2010).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park (Key West):
A white sandy beach is located at the Fort Zachary Historic State Park. Some parts of the beach are kind of rocky (corals). At the beach of the Fort Zachary Historic State Park, there are a cafe, showers and restrooms.  The entrance fee is $4,5.- for one person with a car; $9.- for two persons with a car; $9,5.- for three persons with a car. Pedestrians pay $2,5.- per person. The entrance fee at the Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park must be payed in cash (as at: April 2010). Dry Tortugas National Park:
A beautiful leveled white sandy beach is located at the Dry Tortugas Nationalpark. This beach and the historic Fort Jefferson can only be visited with a boat or a plane. The passage resp. the flight to the Dry Tortugas Nationalpark is provided by commercial companys. An entrance fee is charged at the Dry Tortugas Nationalpark. The entrance fee is $5.- (as at: June 2010).  The “America the Beautiful - Interagency Annual Pass” (formerly known as: “National Parks Pass”) is valid at the Dry Tortugas National Park. The visit with a boat normaly takes a whole day. The passage resp. the flight to the Dry Tortugas National Park normaly starts at Key West.
